Monte Shaffer, the project leader of CRIE and Patent Rank, leads up the project from The University of Arizona. Thousands of articles utilizing patent data have been written in economics, marketing, strategy, entrepreneurship, and law. The limitations of the use of patent data has been its accessibility. We propose an "open-science" paradigm where the data is cleansed, normalized, and prepared for academic consumption. Crie organizes and assesses patent data making it easier to do better research. Innovation is a primary focus of CRIE, as well as making information easily accessible. |
