IN'GRESS, n. [L. ingerssus, ingredior, supra.]
1. Entrance; as the ingress of air into the lungs. It is particularly applied to the entrance of the moon into the shadow of the earth in eclipses, the sun's entrance into a sign, &c.2. Power of entrance; means of entering. All ingress was prohibited.
